Abstract

314,614. Green, E. W., Unthank, G. R., and Dunn, D. April 13, 1928. Pulverulent-fuel furnaces.-Pulverized fuel evenly distributed in the carrier air in an external whirling - chamber k is spread from the axis of the burner by a deflector n, the resulting rarefaction being eliminated by air supplied centrally at b, and secondary air is supplied at an angle to the deflected stream of fuel through perforated baffles c - - i, Fig. 2, arranged over the area of the front. The invention is shown as applied to a Howden forceddraught front, the burner being mounted on a plate p taking the place of the usual fire-door and the air supply to the various baffles c &c. being controlled by the usual valves. The air tube b carrying the spreader n is longitudinally adjustable, also the projection of the lip k<1> into the whirling-chamber. Transparent and movable windows are provided at b<5> and p<1>.
