Statistical cards.-Account cards adapted for the mechanical posting of entries are provided with marginal number-tracks or areas b, Fig. 1, consisting of a series of ten field groups within which perforations may be made to indicate the serial number assigned to the card among a series of cards, thereby enabling a particular card to be selected by passing the series in succession through a machine provided with feeler devices which are set according to the card required. To enable entries to be made upon both faces of the cards the perforated portions b may be arranged either along the left-hand margins thereof, or along the left-hand portions of the upper margins of both faces. When the same entries are to be made upon a number of successive cards, a perforation d, and as many perforations d<1> as there are cards following to receive the same entries, are made at the top of the card to engage corresponding feelers provided on the book-keeping machine. A pivoted tab may be provided at the top of the card and arranged to be swung outwardly to a visible position after the card has received an entry, means being provided on the machine to effect this. Marginal portions a corresponding to the line-space intervals of the card are provided to receive a notch or perforation when an entry is made upon their corresponding line, so that feelers controlling the feed of the cards into the printing position can engage therewith.
