Abstract
311,754. Rheinische Metallwaarenund Maschinenfabrilc. May 16, 1928, [Convention date]. Buffers.-The valve in the piston of an hydraulic shock absorber for railway vehicle buffers, guns, &c. consists of a single member which acts both as a valve and a valve-spring, and takes the form of a conical, or flat, plate-spring, which covers the opening in the piston c. If several apertures for the flow are provided, each of these may be closed by a separate valve spring; or preferably the ends of the passages f may be connected by an annular groove f<1>, which is covered by a single plate spring g, so that the hydraulic pressure is effective during the working stroke of the piston over a large surface of the plate.
