Abstract
311,236. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. May 7, 1928, [Convention date]. Aralkyl esters of hydnocarpus fatty acids are prepared by converting in a customary manner the fats or oils occurring in varieties of Hydnocarpus into aralkyl fatty acid esters. Thus the fats may be saponified and the fatty acid then esterified with aralkyl alcohols such as benzyl-, phenethyl-, or p-methoxyphenethyl alcohol. Among the varieties of Hydnocarpus which may be utilized are H. Wightiana, H. anthelmint, Taraktogenos, Kurzii. Examples describe the esterification of the fatty acids of. Chantmoogra oil with benzyl alcohol; the fatty acids of the oil from H. Wightiana with phenethylalcohol; and the fatty acids of the oil from H. anthelmint with p-methoxyphenethyl alcohol. The products are therapeutically active. Specification 1984/09 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to the production of the aralkyl esters by subjecting the Hydnocarpus fats to esterification with aralkyl alcohols. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
