Abstract
310,464. Kelvinator Corporation, (Assignees of Erbach, F. R.). April 26, 1928, [Convention date]. Refrigerating, compression machines for; refrigerators, domestic and like.-A display case is cooled by the evaporator 14 of a machine including a compressor-condenser unit 11 and' an electrically-driven motor 12 automatically controlled by a switch 13. The evaporator comprises a tank 15 having a liquid refrigerant and lubricant inlet port 20 controlled by a float-operated valve 21, a refrigerant vapour outlet pipe 28 disposed above the level of the lubricant which floats on the refrigerant in which it is partially soluble, and vaporizing tubes 16 provided with fins 42. The surface area of the fins is greater than that of the interior of the case. The outlet pipe 28 is provided with a small port 40 for the return of surplus lubricant to the compressor. Baffles 31. 41 are provided to reduce turbulence during evaporation. In a modification, the vaporizer tubes extend from the side of the tank.
