Abstract

Pneumatic separating. -In pneumatic separators for the separation of fine flour from grits of the kind in which a current of air produced by a blower a, b passes through materials projected from a distributing disc and carries the fine flour into a chamber h, while the grits pass down into a chamber e, a secondary separation of the flour is obtained by providing double walls i, g which form between them a chamber d in which the grits carried in the flour stream are deposited and from which they reach the chamber e. The fan comprises helical blades b supported by a carrier a and directs the flour stream against the wall i, and the upper edge of the wall g may be formed with an overhanging lip acting as a baffle. A deflecting device consisting of oblique, plates is disposed below the fan.
