Abstract

309,075. Electrolux, Ltd., (Assignees of Platen-Munters Refrigerating System Aktieholag). April 4, 1928, [Convention date]. Refrigerating, absorption machines for; ice-making.-In a continuous-cycle inert gas absorption apparatus provided with a low temperature evaporator for icemaking and a higher temperature evaporator for cooling a. cabinet, the ice-making evaporator is formed as a coil and provided with a jacket to insulate it from the other evaporator, which has internal plates. In the apparatus shown, the low-temperature evaporator is formed by a coil 10 extended from the inert gas pipe 21, and is supplied with liquefied refrigerant through a pipe 20. It is surrounded by a box-like casing 25 of iron, copper or aluminium in heat-conducting relation to the coil 10. and one or more outer aluminium &c. casings 28 are spaced from the casing 25 and from one another, as by depressions 29, 30, to provide insulating air jackets. The ice trays 27 are accommodated in the inner casing 25. The unevaporated refrigerant flows with the gas-mixture through a pipe 31 to the other evaporator 11, which is fitted with internal baffles 32 having ribs 33 to form pools of liquid, and with external gills 35 set vertically to promote an upward flow of air around it. The ice-making evaporator is preferably located as shown above the other evaporator in the upper part of a cabinet 13. The gas mixture flows out of the main evaporator to a gas heat exchanger 23.
