Abstract
308,894. Clayton, C. March 24, 1928. Fencing posts and stays; ground anchors. Comprises strutting and holding means for a strainer post for wire fencing. The post is of T or other section and carries a slider 16 to which struts 12, 14, 15 are pivoted, and the web 13 of the post is formed with holes 18 for the reception of fencing wires 30. After the post has been driven into the ground the slider is moved downwardly so that the struts move outwardly along the ground. As shown at 24, Fig. 4, the pivoted ends of the struts are so shaped and arranged that when the struts lie along the ground the shaped ends bite into the post and so support it. Anchoring pins 22 are provided and a strut 19 is pivoted to the central strut 12 and its free end engages in one of a number of notches 21 in the web 13 of the post and is held by a ring 23. The strut 19 is shaped so as to clear the slider in the collapsed position. As shown, the post may be used for suspending a canvas sheet 34 serving as a bed or sunshade.
