Abstract

307,218. Lloyd, H. J. March 16,1928. Jacks.-Hydraulic lifting-jacks of the kind operated by rocking a lever about its pivot and having the lever fitted with a detent to enable it to operate the lowering mechanism, have the rocking lever linked to the pump and the detent in its operative position co-acting with a tripping member. The handle 10 of the hydraulic jack operates the pump plunger 9 through a link 12. The handle is hollow and has a tubular extension 20 carrying a collar 23 in which slides a rod 22 having a head 25 pressed upwards by a spring 26 and a bolt 21 at its lower end engageable with a lever 16 mounted on a pivot 17 on the casing and adapted to operate the release valve 14 for lowering the load, the lever working in slots 18 in the handle. The head 25 has a stud 27, Fig. 2, engaging a bent slot 28 in the tube 20. When the stud is engaged in the short arm 29 of the slot, the bolt 21 engages the lever 16 so that when the handle 10 is rocked the release valve is opened and the load lowered.
