Abstract
307,050. Ferrabino, G. March 3, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Electrodes; electrolytes.-A battery is provided at the cathode with a depolarizer consisting of a persulphate which, when the circuit is closed, generates free acid for the excitation of the anode, the final products being inert salts or soluble compounds adapted to act as additional exciting agents for the anode. A cell is described having a cathode of graphite mixed with potassium persulphate, and an anode of zinc immersed in a solution of zinc sulphate, or of magnesium in magnesium sulphate. In order to lessen the action on open circuit between the persulphate and the anode metal, and also to prevent the spontaneous decomposition of the persulphate in solution, various salts may be added to the electrolyte, such as soluble chromates and bichromates and chromic salts.
