Abstract
306,816. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges. Feb. 25, 1928, [Convention date]. Armouring cables and conductors.-In order to support the lead sheath of an electric cable against water pressure, the sheath is carried by a thin metal strip support of about 0.2 m.m. thick and 20 m.m. broad. The support may be wound in .a spiral over the cable core with a space between each turn, or, as in the construction shown, the cable core 1 is wrapped with superimposed support strips 2, 4, staggered so that the gaps in the inner layer of strips 2 are covered by the outer strip 4. In a further construction, a stepped strip is applied to the core with overlapped edges, thus forming a closed support for the lead sheath 3. A jute padding 5 may cover the sheath 3, and carry iron wire armour 6 and an outer jute asphalting 7. The strips 2, 4 may be formed of steel, or of a non-ferrous metal, such as bronze.
