Abstract

Borehole apparatus. -Well casings are protected from wear by the use of rings 11, preferably of soft rubber, which resiliently grip the drill or pump rods, the rings having smooth outer surfaces, bevelled or rounded shoulders 12, and internal recesses 13. The recesses 13 may be annular, or they may be rectangular and staggered in adjacent annular rows, acting as vacuum cups to assist in holding the rings.
