Abstract

305,520. Pugh, J. V. Nov. 4, 1927. Suspension-spoke wheels; detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs; hubs.-A wheelmember comprising a rim b and one set of wire spokes g connected to a central collar, as described in Specification 304,624, is secured to a permanent axle-fitting comprising disc d, Fig. 2, or spokes c, c<1>, Figs. 1 and 3, carrying a brakedrum on which the wheel-rim is directly mounted, the wheel-spokes being tensioned during such assemblage. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the collar h engages the end e<1> of the axle or hub e, and the rim b is clamped against a flange a<2> of the brake-drum a by bolts f and plates f<1>. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the collar h<1> engages a cap e<2> threaded on the axle &c. e, the rim being fitted with lugs j bolted to the disc d of the brake-drum. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the collar h<2> engages a sleeve e<6> threaded into a collar e<4> which is threaded on the axle &c. In this form, the rim is fitted with taper lugs b<4> which, after assemblage through slots l<3>, Fig. 5, in the flange l<1> of the brake-drum are turned and drawn back to engage in taper slots l<4> in the flange.
