Abstract

304,262. Keller, E. Oct. 18, 1927. Planes and the like, construction of.-Supporting surfaces of aircraft are formed with triangular ribs extending in the direction of the line of flight, and merging at their ends into the front and rear edges of the surfaces. The ribs 1, 2 are of the cross-section shown in Fig. 5, and merge into the curved front edge 4 as shown in Fig. 6. The rear of the ribs comprise wedge-shaped surfaces 6 merging into the rear edge of the surface. The ribs may be resilient or rigid, and, as shown, are air-cushions attached by screwconnections, brackets, clasps, or the like.
