Abstract

301,991. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Hastings, C. H. Sept. 28, 1927. Master control systems, electromagnetic.-In a system of multiple-unit control of electric motors on a train in which two-wire notching- relays R, R<1> are employed, one on each motor coach, each relay has a shunt coil S, S<1> normally contributing to current-limit retardation in the starting process; all the shunt coils are connected to a common train wire T energized through contacts m, n on the reversing drum of the coach from which master-control is being exercised, and can thus be made dead if the driver opens a switch k. The object is to allow the motors of a coach to start under abnormally heavy current, for example on up-grades when motors on another coach are defective. The notching relays may be of the kind described in Specification 7014/12. Specification 233,438 also is referred to.
