Abstract

299,395. Poetzsch, W. G., (Assignee of Lauterbach, F.). Oct. 25, 1927, [Convention date]. Chromium, depositing.-A small quantity of a lithium compound is added to an electrolyte consisting of, or rich in, chromic acid in order to improve the throwing power. A suitable bath contains 450 gms. chromic acid, 5 gms. chromium sulphate, and 3 gms. of lithium carbonate, hydroxide, or sulphate. The content of lithium may be increased to 50 gms. without disadvantage; when 50 gms. of lithium sulphate are added the chromium sulphate should be omitted. Lithium is not deposited. The current density may be 4-20 amps per sq. dcm. and the temperature 28-40‹ C. Specification 1344/08 is referred to.
