Abstract
297,652. Wilson, A. April 4, 1928. Ophthalmoscopes. -An instrument which can be used as an ophthalmoscope, a retinoscope or a slit lamp, comprising a line source of illumination A, a conderser B, focusing lenses F, G, an oblique mirror H and a battery of inspection lenses K, is fitted with a platform b<@> situated in front of the condenser B for carrying a movable slit D and colour filter E. Both the slit D and the colour filter E are mounted on spring- controlled pivoted levers, so that either may be moved into the light beam and held there by springs d<5>, which latter may be released by knobs d<8>. An iris diaphragm is carried above this platform b<9> to adiust the beam to the size of the pupil of the eye under examination. The oblique mirror H is mounted in a rotatable head so that the axis of the slit may be changed to any desired meridian and is provided with a sighing aperture and an eyepiece .T. The mirror H is also slidab'e transversely in its mount, which is made cubical or otherwise, and of two portions hinged together so that the holder is divided diagonally. The lamp A is illuminated by current from mains through a rheostat or from cells a<1> in the base of the instrument.
