Abstract

Pressure-regulating valves.-A valve device adapted for use as a station or district governor or for relay governing has the effective load on the governor varied by the demand for gas. The main valve is actuated by a member 1 counterbalanced by weights 19 and controlled by an auxiliary governor 3. The governor 3 controls the admission of inlet pressure to the space 6 above the bell, the exhaust being by way of a vent 20 leading to a burner, to atmosphere, to the outlet side of the main valve, and to a region of low pressure. A spindle 7 connected to the member 1 carries a counterbalanced vessel 8 containing mercury adapted to buoy up a member 9 to relieve the load on the auxiliary governor as the ball 1 rises. The counterbalance weights and the auxiliary governor may be arranged within the casing of the main valve. The actuating fluid may be arranged to act on the inside of the bell or above or below a diaphragm. Specification 229,419 is referred to in the second Provisional Specification.
