Abstract

296,069. Associated Telephone & Telegraph Co., (Assignees of Stehlik, R. F.). March 14, 1927, [Convention date]. Divided on 287,079. Drawings to Specification. Semi-automatic exchange systems. - The terminals of the hunting switches that associate the incoming junctions with the idle registers of a call-indicator are connected to the registers through a distributing frame so that the number of registers can be varied while all the terminals of the hunting switches are kept in use. The position is marked busy an instant after the last but one register is taken into use, and the last, which is normally marked busy, is made available for a call arriving before the busy mark is applied. Mutilated calls are displayed after an interval governed by a timing switch which is restored as each digit is received, and are extended to a special operator, the subscriber receiving a ring- back tone. If the subscriber dials into a junction that is not associated with a register, he gets a busy signal. A common key connects up busy tone to the junction over which the number displayed has come in. The usual reply signal is not sent back if the call is abandoned. The system described is identical with that described in Specification 287,079.
