Abstract

295,007. Virginia Smelting Co., (Assignees of Binns, F. W.). Aug. 6, 1927, [Convention date]. Bleaching, processes ard materials for.-A process for decolourizing rags, cloths, yarns, wastes of wool, cotton, rayon, silk, or other textiles, cellulose, &c. and for bringing them into a condition for dyeing or re-dyeing, consists in treating the materials with a solution obtained by treating zinc dust (28 lbs.) in water (42 galls.) with sulphur dioxide (40 lbs.), with or without the addition of formaldehyde (1¢ Ibs.). The material may be first boiled in water containing 5 per cent by weight (of the goods) of commercial ammonia, the boiling being repeated with 3 per cent of ammonia, and the materials rinsed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 7592/05; 81/06, [Class 2, Acids and salts, Organic &c.] ; 17734/08, and 19528/08.
