Abstract

294,180. Somajni, G. July 19, 1927, [Convention date]. Controlling by varying electromotive force. - In controlling a pair of traction motors M<1>. M<2> by applying graduated increments of voltage from a three-armature dynamotor marine D<1>D<2>,D<3> according to successive positions of a drum controller C, continuity of circuit is maintained during the steps of the controller by providing it with an additional offset row of contact-fingers connected to resistances r<1> - r<4>. The motors are further provided with protective series mesistances R<1>, R<2>, which are switched in and out, during the steps of the controller, by the action of opposing series and shunt magnets 15, 21. The arrangement is intended to be operative in normal running and also in regenerative braking.
