Abstract

293,857. British Celanese, Ltd., (Assignees of Dreyfus, C.). July 15, 1927, [Convention date]. Pleating.-Fabrics containing a thermoplastic derivative of cellulose are pleated at a temperature and pressure sufficiently high to render the cellulose derivative plastic, thereby ensuring permanent pleating. Prior to the pleating operation, the fabric, preferably, is treated by a softening agent which may be any compound producing a swelling, softening, or solvent action on the cellulose derivatives. As examples of solvents for cellulose acetate the following are given : acetone, diacetone alcohol, cyclohenanone, alcohol, aceto-acetic ester, acetic acid, ethyl lactate &c. : and as examples of swelling agents, solutions of ammonia thiocyanate, stannic chloride &c. are given. Specification 254,354, [Class 42 (i), Fabrics, Finishing &c.], is referred to.
