Abstract

293,370. Parker, J. April 4, 1927. Flat endless - belt conveyers; linked carriers; auxiliary ropes; driving- gear; guiding.-In an endless-belt conveyer provided with clips for engaging driving ropes, the belt is supported independently of the ropes. The belt 10, Fig. 1, is supported by wheels 16 which run on tracks 17 and are mounted in brackets 15. A pin 19 passed through lugs on' each bracket also passes through a slot 20 in a lug 12<a> depending from the lower jaw 12 of a pair of jaws 11, 12. These jaws embrace the edge of the belt and are connected by an adjustable fastening 13. Strips 14 of flexible steel are stretched across beneath the belt between opposite pairs of jaws. The pin 19 also passes through a slot 21<b> in an arm 21a of a curved crossbar 21. Rope clips 22 are pivoted to the brackets 15 and have reverselyarranged grooves 22<a>, 22b to receive the driving-rope 23 on the upper and lower run, respectively. The rope 23 passes round an end pulley 26, the axle 27 of which is mounted in slide blocks 28 connected by a cord 30 to a weight 38. The rope 23 is guided by a horizontal pulley 34 and is wrapped round the driving pulley 35. A pulley 37 carried by the axle of the pulley 35 may be connected by an endless rope or chain to a pulley 39 on the axle 40 of the drum 41 around which passes the belt 10. In a modification the conveyer comprises overlapping trough-shaped steel sections 43, Fig. 5, certain of which are supported by wheels 45 on brackets 44. The remaining sections are secured to angle brackets 49 attached to links 50 which connect adjacent brackets 44. Clips 47 similar to the clips 22, Fig. 1, grip the driving rope 46.
