When the weight is raised by hand by chain 11 a projection 14 on the weight operates the arm 17 of the valve or switch 13 and when the weight falls a second projection 15 restores the arm 17. 8 is a guide rod rigid with the weight. A solenoid winding may be arranged around the piston so that it may be lifted electdically.
