Abstract
290,738. Shotter, G F., and Crompton &. Co., Ltd. Feb. 21, 1927. Solenoids.-A coil 4 for an ammeter may be wround from strip copper in two piles 7, 8 as shown in Fig. 5, both piles being wound from the inside to the outside so that both ends 5, 6 of the coil are brought to the outside. The piles 7, 8 are wound close together, but are shown separated for clearness. For heavy currents the construction of coil shown in Fig. 6 may be employed, in which a copper ring is split along a line 41 extending from the inner to the outer surface so as to form a single turn having overlapping tapering ends.. The ends are insulated from each other and are provided with connecting strips 5, 6.
