Abstract
290,176. Somajni, G. May 7, 1927, [Convention date]. Electric braking.-Electric braking of traction motors is attained by arranging in circuit with the motors 1, 2, Fig. 1, a dynamotor group 3, 4 acting as a voltage divider. When the line-switch 7 is moved to the dotted-line position the motors and dvnamotors are left in an independent circuit, giving a braking effect which can be varied by varying the interconnections, and by varying resistance 6. To avoid undue surges in the transitions between the different braking connections, extra resistance is automatically inserted and withdrawn by a biassed series-shunt relay the shunt winding of which is interrupted during the transition.
