Abstract
289,860. Loewe, S. May 4, 1927, [Convention date]. Drawings to Specification. Vacuum tubes.-A cylindrical cathode is mounted around a straight or helical filament held in tension by a spring, and is supported on the filament by non-conducting members. In one arrangement, a nickel cylinder, coated with electron-emitting oxides or carrying thoriated tungsten filaments, is mounted by lugs on two mica discs, one of which is supported on a lead for an axial tungsten filament, and the other is supported on the filament or on the spring. A lead at one end of the cylinder is mounted on an irsulating bead on a filament lead, and the ether end of the cylinder is free to move under expansion. In a modification in which a long heating filament is used, intermediate steatite supports are arranged between the filament and cylinder.
