289,655. Kilmarnock Engineering Co., Ltd., Shaw, W., and Williamson, J. S. May 26, 1927. Rotating conveyers.-Apparatus for drying materials such as stone or sand comprises a series of rotatable superposed drums 1, 2, 3 through which the material is passed in succession and dried by contact with a hot gas current entering by conduits 18 and leaving by an outlet conduit 7, the drums being mounted in box-like end frames 4, 5 with the inner faces of which the drums make a running joint. The hoppers and shoots 10 - - 14 and 16 are built into the end frames so that the hoppers lie within them and the shoots project into the drums, the hoppers forming horizontal partitions to prevent the gases from different drums from mixing before entering the outlet 7 and to prevent leakage to the atmosphere. The drums are provided with internal vanes 8 and the lowest drum is provided with perforated plates 15 to act as a screening drum, and is supplied with cool air through a conduit 24, so that in this drum the material is cooled and dust extracted.
