Abstract
289,268. Hodgson, H. May 27, 1927. Springs, arrangement of.-Two motor vehicles in which the main spring 1 is supplemented by an auxiliary bearing spring 2 pivoted at 3 to the frame 4 and having an adjustable intermediate supporting point, two shoes or segments 6 pivoted to one another at 7 bear against plates 8, 9 on the frame and spring 2 respectively. As the axle moves relatively to the frame, the shoes are adjusted automatically to vary the effect of the spring 2 by means of a lever 13 operating a cam 10 which varies the distance apart of the free ends of the shoes. The lever 13 and cam spindle 12 may have a fine splined connection to facilitate adjustment.
