Abstract

289,136. British Sure Seal Co., Ltd., and Huxley, J. H. Jan. 18, 1927. Detachable stoppers secured by clamping-devices. - A reseal closure for bottles, jars, and other containers comprises a cap having a flange closely engaging about the mouth of the container and indented at relatively wide intervals to form inwardly projecting ribs each with an upper face continuous with and merging into the flange, the closure being removable by a simple pull on it. The cap comprises a top 1, Fig. 4, and a flange 2 in which indentations 3 are formed either on the bottom edge of the flange or between the edge and the top thereof. In modifications the indentations comprise resilient tongues 3<a>. Fig. 8, and the top of the cap is dished to en. gage either a domed packing member or a " well " stopper. Milling, horizontal ribs, or a gripping edge 4b, Fig. 8, facilitate removal of the closure from the container. The closure may be composite and comprise a disc or cap secured by a cap or ring having the inward projections formed in it. In one form, quadrants are cut out of the cap and the disc is formed of parchment paper. Removal of the composite cap is facilitated by forming or providing the disc, which may be of pasteboard or tagger tin covered by pasteboard or tagger tin above, with a tube 13, Fig. 13, the tab usually being disposed below an indentation 3. The tab may, hovewer, be formed on an inelastic ring. In other forms, the disc is provided with a handle or loop of string &c. or a removal tab is stamped out of the top of the cap. In making the caps, they may be stamped from a metal sheet to which a sheet of absorbent paper has been adhesively secured.
