Abstract

285,233. Gascoigne, G. H. Jan. 24, 1927. Cow-milkers.-A milking- machine teat cup, of the kind comprising a flexible lining b arranged within a metal casing a and adapted to be actuated by pneumatic pulsations, has helical ribs i formed on the outside of the 'lining so that the pressure is caused to travel around as well as downwards of the teat, and the lower end c of the lining forms a close push fit in the opening at the lower end of the casing. The portion of the lining within the casing may be tapered, and the thickness of the walls may increase from the top downwards. The upper end of the lining is enlarged and formed externally with a sleeve or lip e taking over the upper end of the casing, and a recess f serves to retain a reserve of vacuum for holding the teat in position throughout the milking operation. According to the Provisional Specification the lining engages frictionally the upper and lower ends of the casing.
