Apparatus for making filaments; ammoniacalcopper cellulose solutions, processes for making filaments from.-Threads a produced in the stretch-spinning cuprammonia process are during their treatment with acid in the channelled members c led through one or more accurately dimensioned thread guides d adjustably positioned within the troughs, whereby the grain or structure of the finished threads can be controlled. The guides are constructed of acid. resisting steel wire or strip, and are bent so as to fit over the trough and are provided with a central depending V-shaped portion through which the thread passes, the lower end of the depending portion being rounded.
