Abstract
282,783. Soc. of Chemical Industry in Basle. Dec. 24, 1926, [Convention date]. Azo dyes, soluble chromium compounds of.- The dyestuffs obtained by coupling o-oxydiazo compounds with 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone are converted into chromium compounds by treating them with agents yielding chromium. The products dye animal fibres, e.g. wool or silk. in an acid bath very uniform fast orange to red tints. In examples, (1) the dyestuff from 4 - methyl - 2 - aminophenol - 6 - sulphonic acid is boiled with chromium formate solution, the product dyes wool orange tints; similar dyestuffs are obtained from 2-aminophenol-4-sulphonic acid. 4-(or 6) nitro-2-aminophenol-6-(or 4) sulphonic acid, and 4-chlor-2-aminophenol-5- (or-6-) sulphonic acid, while o-aminophenol itself, its 4-or 5-nitro and 4-chlor derivatives or 4-sulphamide or picramic acid give more sparingly soluble products, (2) the dyestuffs from the nitrated diazo compound of 1: 2 : 4-aminonaphtholsulphonic acid is treated with chromium fluoride; the product, dyes wool in red tints, while the corresponding dyestuff from 1 :2- naphthalenediazo-oxide-4-sulphonic acid gives blue-red tints. Other salts of trivalent chromium may be used as chroming agents, e.g. chromium acetate; also chromium hydroxide, a chromite, or chromic chromate.
