Abstract
282,233. Hall, D., Kay, J. H., and Hall & Kay, Ltd. Feb. 9, 1927. Air and gases, treating with liquids. -Air or gas passes inwards through the surface of a horizontal rotary filter drum 6<a> ; the coarser impurities remain in the compartment 4a containing the drum, which is cleaned by a rotary scraper 9; the air passes into a compartment 4b, in which it is washed by vertical sprays 11 and impinges on louvers or vertical baffles 12 moistened by sprays 13; final dust removal is effected by zig-zag filters 15; the air may then be dried, moistened, &c. in a conditioning plant 16. The used water collects in a sump, in which a filter drum 17 is rotated or oscillated from the scraper shaft. Clean water for re-use is pumped from inside the filter. A ball valve maintains a constant water level in the sump.
