Dynamometers.-Apparatus for measuring the pressure exerted by a piston-ring comprises a plate a having a circular recess, in which the piston-ring f is placed, and a gap containing a member b, on which the piston-ring presses. Two blocks c of a piezo-electric substance, such as quartz or tourmaline with an interposed copper plate j, are clamped by bolts between a plate k, integral with or attached to the member b and flanges a<111> on the plate a. A wire from the plate leads to an electrometer.
