Colour kinematography. - A shutter carrying colour filters comprises two series of three or more filters, one filter of each series serving as a shutter section. Exposures are successively made in the camera through red blue-violet, orangered, and green filters, and each positive image is projected through one series of the filters in the shutter &c. As shown, one series of filters comprises a red exposure filter R and an orange exposure filter O, respectively extending over 70‹ and 30‹, and a dark blue-violet filter D-B-V extending over 80‹ and serving as a shutter section masking the film movement. The other series comprises a green filter G, a blue filter B, and a dark red filter D-B, respectively similar in extent and function to those in the first series. The red and orange-red colour records are projected through the first series, and the blue-violet and green records through the second series. The extent of the various filters may be varied and the combination may be such as to produce white light on the screen when the shutter is rapidly rotated. Additional filters may be provided, e.g. a yellow filter may be inserted between filters DB-V and O.
