Abstract

278,896. Lane, P., and Lait, A. E. Nov. 3, 1926. Windows and the like, cleaning. - The wiper arm 13 of a windscreen cleaner is carried by an endless chain 4 passing round sprockets 5, 6, the former of which is driven by an electric motor or other means. The arm 13 is rotatablv mounted in a runner 11 slidable in a slot formed on a housing 1 which encloses the chain 4. A plate 9 secured to a link of the chain is attached to the arm 13. When the arm reciprocated by the chain reaches each end of the housing 1, it is turned about its vertical axis, thereby presenting, in turn, the operative surfaces of cleaning elements 16, 17 for engagement with the windscreen. The elements are pivotally mounted on the arm 13 and are pressed outwardly by means of bow springs 18, 19.
