Abstract
278,501. Hooley, L. S. Sept. 14, 1926. Steering - gear; vibration-dampers. - A vibration-damper provided in the joint between the steering track-rod 1 and the stub-axle arm 2 comprises one or more layers of friction material 12 located between the two surfaces 7, 10 appertaining to the two parts of the joint and resilient means such as a spring tending to grip the parts together. In the construction shown the parts 7, 10 are recessed to receive squared parts 5, 6 of the track-rod 1 and arm 2 respectively. A bolt. 9 passing through the spring and all the other parts serves as the pivot for the joint and as the sole means connecting the parts together. The squared part 5 is formed on a socket 4 screwed on the track-rod 1 so that the effective length of the latter can be adjusted.
