Abstract

Water circulation, apparatus for promoting.-Water circulation in a boiler is promoted by using in combination with inclined deflector plates at the water level tubes in the water space so arranged as to dis. charge the rising hot water at or near and above the plates and behind their upper edges. Tubes 1, Figs. 1, 2. arranged between the flues and smoke tubes of a marine boiler open at their upper ends in apertures in inclined plates 7 extending across the boiler in front of the combustion chamber. The pipe 1, Fig. 4, placed at the back of a deflector 7 is inclined and is bent over at its upper end. A pipe may gradually vary in cross-section, or may be formed in two parts of different cross sections. A circulator pipe may be branches to straddle a flue tube, and the branches may be bent at their lower ends to extend rearwardly along the bottom of the boiler.
