Abstract
277,351. Adrema Maschinenbauges. Sept. 8, 1926, [Convention date]. Addressing-machines; tripping-arrangements. -Relates to addressing - machines of the type in which address-plates are advanced in procession along a lateral guideway 6 to printing position beneath a platen 5 carried by a pivoted arm 3 oscillated by means of a handle 10 and in which a skipping-lever 14 is provided for skipping address-plates from which no impression is required and in which, also, mechanism is provided for intermittently advancing a strip 41 on which a list is to be printed. A system of levers is interposed between the lever 14 and the list-feeding devices, whereby the feed may be interrupted when the lever 14 is turned into the operative position. The strip 41 is clamped at its forward end to a plate 24 slidable in guides 23 and is fed forward by means of a rack 25, which is reciprocated by a toothed sector 26 and engages a pawl 27 on the plate 24, the sector 26 being oscillated by a rod 32 connected to the arm 3 by a pin 36 normally engaging the vertical branch of a bayonet-slot 34 in the rod. When an address-plate to be skipped arrives in the printing position, the operator presses a knob 19 on the end of a rod 16 slidably mounted on the arm 3 and thereby rocks the lever 14 about its pivot 12 so that a buffer 15, by striking the machine table 2 prevents the full descent of the platen 5. The lever 14 is connected by a rod 40 and a pivoted plate 39 to a rod 37 engaging the rod 32, whereby the latter is raised so that the pin 36 is in line with the horizontal part of the slot 34 and, at the next upward movement of the arm 3, instead of the sector 26 being actuated to feed the list forward, the pin 36 simply rides along the slot.
