Abstract

277,274. Roberts. W. S. Aug. 2, 1927. Channels in bearings particularly for locomotive axles. Oil supplied through holes 6 in a crown brass is distributed over the surface by a system of grooves 7 intersecting approximately at right angles. Grooves 9 in the skirts of the brass may connect with the grooves 7, or, as shown, they may be extended upwardly and outwardly beyond the ends of the grooves 7. Soft metal insets 8, if used, are not grooved.
