Abstract
276,591. Martin, K., and Tietze, P. April 6, 1927. Optical systems for polychromatic kinematography of the kind in which the pictures are taken of normal size in a .common plane, in which each picture is formed by a separate objective and the division of the rays takes place in front of the objective, as described in Specification 16811/15, have the two objectives .a, b separated by a distance exceeding the distance between the centres of the component pictures. The incident rays enter a dividing prism s, and part are reflected from the surface v<1> and then from the surface v<2> of a second prism s<1> to the objective a. After passing the objectives a b the rays are brought together again by reflections in a prism g<1> so that the images are formed at the correct distance apart. A glass block g is inserted in the path of one set of rays to compensate for the difference in length of the two optical paths. In other examples the objectives instead of having their axes parallel are situated with their axes at an angle to each other. reflective surfaces being arranged in the prisms to bring the images into the desired position.
