Thermionic amplifiers and detectors.-A wireless receiver is supplied with operating current from alternating current mains through a rectifier, preferably of the double-wave type, and smoothing circuit f, g<1>, g<2>, and the, valve filaments are connected in series and supplied through resistances b, q in the positive and negative leads respectively. The anode potentials are supplied from tappings m, p in the resistance b, and the grid bias for the low-frequency amplifying valve k is obtained from an adjustable tapping in the resistance q.
