Abstract

273,077. Smallpiece, C. D. P. June 9, 1926. Turning.-The turret slide c of an automatic turret lathe is reciprocated by means of a rotary cam drum a which is carried between bearings b on the slide and is provided with a groove d roacting with a fixed roller e adjustably mounted on the bed f. The cam-shaft r is fitted with grooves engaging projections t on the drum. A second cam groove p coacts with a roller m to withdraw the locking-bolt, when the turret, slide is stationary at the end of its withdrawal movement, whereupon indexing is effected by the engagement of a bevel segment on the cam drum with a bevel wheel k on the turret spindle. In a modification the cam drum is provided with a toothed rim and is driven from a long pinion on a driving shaft parallel to the drum axis.
