Abstract

272,507. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. June 8, 1926, [Convention date]. Lantern shutters.-In obscuring devices for light projectors having leaves arranged fanwise around the axis of the reflector and rotated about axes radial of the axis of the reflector, the pivot pins of the leaves are turned by at least two annular driving elements. Outer and inner toothed rims 2, 3 are coupled by a spindle 7 having pinions 8, 9, and the outer rim is rotated by a pinion 4 on the spindle 6 of the operating handle 5. Pinions 13, 14 are secured to the leaves 15 and engage with the toothed rims 2, 3 so that the leaves are uniformly turned. The pinions 13 are secured to the leaves in an adjustable manner to enable the leaves to be brought into exactly parallel planes in the open position; this adjustment comprises a cone on the pinion 13 engaging a conical friction surface within a bell-shaped screw cup 18 secured by rivets to the leaves, the cones being tightened by a screw cap 19. A screw bolt 22 supports a ball bearing within the cup 18, passes freely through the pinion 13 and lamp casing 1 and is secured bv a nut 27. A spring is interposed between the ball bearing and the pinion 13 so that by tightening the nut 27 the leaves are stretched flat. Instead of toothed rims and pinions, friction rollers or pulleys moved by an endless cord may be used. Adjoining leaves may be arranged to turn in opposite directions.
