Linear-dimension gauges.-The device of the parent invention for measuring the thickness of tubes or rods is modified by the provision of two feeler rollers, each mounted on a pivoted lever, and adapted to press resiliently against the continuously fed work, one roller acting on a pointer and the other on a coaxial rotatable scale. The two rollers 13, 14 between which the glass rod &c. 1 is fed are loosely rotatable on levers 15, 16 pivotally mounted on a bracket 17. To the lower lever 16 is secured a vertical tube 18 and on the upper lever 15 is secured a tube 19 telescopically arranged within the tube 18, the latter being slotted to permit passage of the lever 15. The tube 19 is provided at the upper end with a cross bar 21 guided in slots in the outer tube 18. To the free end of the cross bar 21 is secured a metal strap 23 the other end of which is anchored to a toothed segment 26 which operates a pointer 33 through a pinion 36, while a similar cross bar on the tube 18 is connected bv a band to a quadrant moving a scale 34 pivoting concentrically with the pointer. Between the upper free end of the tubes 18, 19 is arranged a spring 30 tending to press the tubes apart and thus the rollers 13, 14 towards each other. On variations occurring in the diameter of the rod 1, the rollers move relativelv and their movements are transmitted independently to the pointer and scale the relative position of which indicates the diameter.
