Abstract

272,079. Hodges, R. J. Oct. 4, 1926. Pistons. - A piston is formed with a domed diaphragm K, in order to prevent splashing of oil on to the under side of the piston crown. Large ports C in the piston wall above the diaphragm promote cooling and are formed with sharp edges D for scraping oil, which passes through perforation G in the bottom of the trough into the interior of the piston. Splashing of oil upwards through the perforations G is prevented by a guard H.
