Abstract

271,114. Claveau, E. May 17, 1926, [Convention date]. Springs, arrangement of; guiding vertical play. -In motor vehicles comprising a shell or body without a chassis-frame, such as are described in Specifications 226,566 and 245,106, the wheels are mounted on journals which slide on frames rigidly secured to the shell, means being provided resiliently to control the movement of the journals. The front wheels are mounted on journals 1, each of which slides and swivels on a vertical rod 2 carried by transverse tubular members 3 extending through the shell B and secured thereto by flanged members 8. Load and recoil springs 5, 6 are mounted on the rods 2 between the journals and members 4 which secure the rods 2 to the members 3. The mounting of the rear wheels is similar except that the journals do not swivel and each journal slides on a pair of vertical rods 2, 2<1>. Telescopic casings 7 enclose the springs 5, and the springs may be replaced, by pneumatic or hydraulic devices.
