Abstract
270,084. Smith, L. April 30, 1926. Top boots.-High-legged boots provided with an opening 2 at the lower part of the leg for passage of the foot are provided in combination with an expansible tongue or gusset 8 on the interior connected by side pieces 9 to the edges of the opening and a single lace 4 anchored at 5 and threaded straight across through eyelets 3 at the front passing diagonally at the back and finally passing from the lowermost eyelet inside the gusset to the inside top of the boot, being anchored at 6. A sufficient length of lace is left to form a loop through which the fingers may pass to draw the lace taut. The tongue or gusset may be closed at the bottom by stitching 12 and is slightly open at the top for the passage of the lace 4.
