Abstract
269,950. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. April 26, 1926, [Convention date]. Bacteria, cultivating.-Bacteria for use in obtaining dihydroxyacetone from glycerine are cultivated in nutrient solutions containing a decoction of vegetable materials, such as straw, wood, or hay, or in solutions containing, in addition to the salts present in such decoctions, carbonitrogenous substances such as ammonium lactate, glycocoll, or asparagine. The bacteria may be those ordinarily employed, such as bacterium xylinum or acetobacter suboxydans, or they may be root-bacilli such as are obtainable from hay and similar vegetable materials which have undergone fermentation. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) mentions bran as a suitable vegetable material. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
